Welp... this was not what I was expecting

Review: The Heir by Kiera Cass

I fell in love when I found the first book in this series, The Selection.  I really did. I read the first book in one night and then spent the rest of the weekend reading The Elite and then The One. It was divine, America was authentic and it was an opportunity to see yourself trying to fit in to a world that posed elegant but dangerous obstacles.

It was so swept up that I cried when I finished it.  Finding out there would be another book in the series was a sign from Heaven, but I have to admit this one didn't make me feel the same.

The Good

There were so many likable characters in the book. I  was still enamored with Eadlyn's parents and even her siblings felt endearing. The guys picked in for the Selection were well written. Henri stole my heart as did Kile but Eadlyn  was a hard sell. By the end of the book I did sympathize more with her but I still didn't like her much.

The Not So Good

adlyn. Nope can't say I liked her as much as her mother. At first the character wasn't as bad but the
more I read, the more I found myself feeling like the people in Illea. She felt distant and even though I spent the book in her thoughts, I didn't like her. She's a brat and too caught up in her future queen status. Another thing, the book ended on the worst cliffhanger ever. It's likely a choice made by the author to keep people invested in the story which was needed after spending hundreds of pages with Eadlyn.

The Verdict

But...I'm willing to give her another chance since I love her mother and my curiosity needs to know what happens next.

My Newest Favorite Book!

June 02, 2015 0 Comments

Eighth Grave After Dark finds our Charlie still pregnant and trying to survive long enough to bring Beep into the world. I'm not going to give you a run down of the plot since most can read it yourself but I loved it!

Often authors get into a series and then change the characters. They change the "friends" you're now close to and I am happy to say that Darynda is incredible at keeping her characters authentic and funny.

This series has been one of my favorites since I found it by chance last year. The characters are real, funny and seriously make you want to live in their world. Charlie though preggers still smolders next to Reyes and the heat those two create will make you want to create some flames of your own. Though their relationship is strong and it will be challenged by forces from both sides again (Communication is key, folks)

That is to say that I was devastated at the end, I know I'm emotional but you really can feel Charlie's heart breaking.

Overall, this was an excellent edition to the series. Charlie is still herself even when faced with deadlier enemies and spies in her very secluded camp.
My Rating: 5 Stars

Welcome to Paradise

Welcome to my Blog!! I live for reading, getting lost in a story so intense that I can easily forget what day it is or what I have to do next. Breathing word by word with a heroine or villain, feeling whatever emotion each page brings.

Does that sound like you? Great! Then you're clearly in the right place.

I honestly read nearly anything I can get my hands on but have found myself more dedicated to Paranormal Romance specifically. But that's not to say that I don't love Chick Lit or Young Adult Fiction, I mean who in their right mind could deny The Hunger Games?

I'm a sucker for a good story, strong characters, and a sense of humor but everything has its it place.

Here you'll find my recent reads, reviews, and comments so feel to visit often!
